Animal Crackers

I saw "Animal Crackers" at MoMA after the Woody Allen movie a few weeks ago. I was waiting to write it up in case I saw other Marx Brothers movies in that series, but I never got to them.

For someone who loves movies, it's amazing how many classics I have not seen. I realized I hadn't seen ANY Marx Brothers movies, though I did watch "You Bet Your Life" as a child. Still, I must have seen excerpts over the years since this movie seemed vaguely familiar.

The sets were fake-looking and some of the jokes didn't work ("Well, all the jokes can't be good!" admitted Groucho). But others did, and it moved zanily and quickly.
