Time Event
I'm so not a JAP
There does not seem to be a petite down coat in all of Manhattan for me. At least not in: Burlington Coat Factory, Loehmann's, Daffy's, TJ Maxx, Filene's Basement, or even Macy's.

After striking out at all the discount stores (I did get 2 more pairs of shoes and more tights at Loehmann's), I went to Macy's. Macy's always intimidates me. The coat department had a lot of coats, but I wandered around and around and couldn't find petites. I finally found someone to ask, who directed me to the other side of the floor but there were only a few specifically petite coats. I asked someone if there were down petites, and she said, no, just to look for smaller sizes. I'm not really that small; a medium regular down coat I tried was too tight. I couldn't deal with it, and just gave up. Before entering the subway, I tried H&M. Loud music, way too young atmosphere, hardly any coats.

It's clear that I need the personal shopper if I ever go to Macy's again. I don't fit into a definite size, and I hate looking for items. I tried on more flowy skirts at Loehmann's, but cannot seem to get a proper size. They are either too big in the waist or too small in the hips. One had a strange bow closure that didn't really close but showed your slip or blouse or whatever was in the skirt. If this is some sort of new fashion, I don't think it's for me.

I'm not sure if I should try Bloomingdale's. If Macy's is intimidating, Bloomie's is even worse.

On the plus side, even though I need to do some button sewing on my existing coat, it sure was warm wearing it in the store. Whether it will suffice in windy mountain weather is unknown.

Tomorrow I'll be working in Pleasantville, so any more shopping will have to wait until Monday.
