"They just don't build them like this anymore!"

That's the now-ironic quote on the site for Castle Village (http://www.castlevillage.com/), an apartment complex in Upper Manhattan. The buildings lie atop Manhattan's highest point, a 200-foot bluff near the George Washington Bridge.

Yesterday, a 97-year-old retaining wall behind the complex collapsed, raining debris onto the highway below. Luckily, there were no injuries, and engineers believe the buildings themselves are not in danger.

Still, this could give new meaning to the development's "sunken living rooms."

(Sorry, that was in poor taste. Seriously, I know people who live in Castle Village, and hope that they remain safe and sound.)
