Half-baked atonement

Even though I'm not religious and I'm not going to services, I just don't feel right working on Yom Kippur. It seems disrespectful. So when the puzzles arrived around 4:30 pm, I felt it was too late to go to the NYT and work on them. I'll do them Sunday or Monday.

Other than a Fudgsicle, I haven't eaten yet today so by the time I finish with dinner, it'll be after sundown (6:42). So my fast won't be exact, and I always leave myself the option of not fasting. I have no plans for breaking fast, so there's no structure at all this year.

I finished:
"The Cutting Edge" by Joni Lynn Scalia - memoir of a woman who became a doctor when that was rare, and her male colleagues didn't always appreciate her.

"Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood" by Rebecca Wells - I saw the trailer for the movie and remember seeing women in a car yelling, "Ya-Yas!" and thinking, "Ewwww." The book wasn't horrendous, but I would have related to these characters more if I were Southern.
