I've mentioned various books I had a hard time getting through, and commenters have asked why I didn't just stop reading them. Well, I just gave up on a book after 131 excruciating pages: "The Partners: Inside America's Most Powerful Law Firms" by James B. Stewart.

I thought this would be like a nonfiction version of the funny novel "Anonymous Lawyer," but it was deadly dull. I always say law is boring, and this proved it. Each chapter was about a big corporate case, and I just couldn't get into it.

Replacing it in the nonfiction pile is a showbiz memoir that should be more my speed.
